Luke 2:15 15 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” (ESV)

Our Lord is continually revealing Himself. He is unsearchable, beyond our capacity for understanding. Though we will never know Him fully on this side of Heaven, He calls us to seek to know Him more. Our pursuit of Him moves Him to reveal greater knowledge and understanding. The Holy Spirit gives us the mind of Christ.
Throughout our life with Him, He will speak into us revelations of His Word, His character, His way, His love. Our passage today begs the question, “What do we do with each new revelation?”
The angels appeared in a monumental revelation to the Shepherds. Their first thought was to go and see what God has revealed. They spoke of a newborn king and they went to see Him. The angels brought ‘good news’ of ‘great joy’ and the shepherds could not wait to go and see.
When God reveals something new to our hearts, our first response should be to go and see this thing. Our hearts must be moved to acknowledge what God is doing, to celebrate it, and to share it. When the Lord reveals His way to us, our first response must be to run to that way, leaving the way we were on. When He opens our eyes to the power of forgiveness, let us run to forgive. When He opens our eyes to generosity, let us run to give freely. When He opens our eyes to holiness, let us run to repentance.
We deceive ourselves when we ignore or play down a new Word or revelation. We equate the kindness of God to reveal Himself as nearness to Him. But each revelation is a call to greater nearness and our apathy to this is rebellion. The revelation makes us feel near, but ignoring it creates space between us and the Lord. We must run to see what the Lord has made known. Let's run to see God's revelations.
Prayer: Lord, let me not procrastinate. I struggle with this. Help my faith. Thank you. Amen.
