Finding Eternal Life in the Rock Eternal

Isaiah 26:4

⁴ Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal. (NIV)

Our trust gives us eternal life today and forever.

Learning to trust God in our behavior and attitude extends beyond a belief in God's existence or in Jesus' death and resurrection. Trust is obedience. It is our faith being put into action. And it sets eternal life in our hearts. 

Eternal life cannot be extinguished. It cannot be broken or undone. It is eternal. Trust in the Lord renews our hope, even when we are swimming in trouble or stress, that God will soon deliver us. This life is full of hardship, but our trust sets us on the path to eternal life, so that nothing in this life can extinguish our spirit. Depression has no place. Fear cannot stay. Hopelessness disappears. Our outlook is hopeful, knowing our trust has placed us in the cleft of the Rock eternal. Our hope increases because we know God’s power in us has not, nor will ever, abandon us, and the same power that will one day lock the devil up forever will bring us through. Trust gives us an assurance that produces joy in the fire, peace in the storm, and hope even as the devil comes at us.

Not only this, but our trust keeps us in Him with full assurance that one day, He will deliver us for the last time. We will finally be in that place where there are no more tears, no pain, no sorrow. 

Though for a little while, we may have to endure hardship, our hope doesn’t waver. Our confidence is full when we put our trust in Him. And one day, all of this shall pass away to give way to everlasting life. If we want to have peace, joy, and hope, it all begins with putting our trust in Him.

Prayer: Lord, I praise You that You have taught me how to unleash Your power to deliver me now and forever that nothing in this world would have the ability to kill my spirit. But in all things I have life eternal. Amen.
