Job 37:5-6 5 God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. 6 He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’ (NIV)
The marvelous ways of God revealed in nature inspire awe. A glorious sunset, or the whitecaps of wave after wave along a soft sandy beach, can cause us to pause in wonder. Artists may spend hours trying to capture such beauty with skill and precision. Yet, while art can visually arrest us and evoke awe, it cannot fully replicate the beauty found in nature. The white blanket of snow mesmerizes our eyes, and the gentle sound of rain can calm our spirit. Clearly, God has painted us into His cosmic masterpiece, each of us is a brushstroke on a larger canvas of celestial beauty..

The Bible reminds us that the wonders of creation reveal God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature. He existed before the earth was formed, and He will continue to exist when it is no more. His power is reflected in the magnitude of creation; His divine nature is evident in its beauty. God desires to make all things beautiful.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. (NIV)
Even when it feels as though all beauty has been lost, we can trust in God’s divine nature. He is at work, making everything beautiful in its time. The ugliness and hardships of life can overwhelm and depress us, but God will not allow them to remain forever. Evidence of His work surrounds us: what was once formless and dark now vividly displays the brilliance of His creative efforts.
When our faith falters, let us look up to the heavens, the stars, and the deep blues of the seas. When depression presses hard, let us observe the glorious colors of butterflies and flowers. May our hearts be renewed with hope, knowing that the ugliness will not endure. Let us praise Him anyway, for His beauty is on the verge of breaking forth.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for surrounding me with reminders of Your work in my life to make everything beautiful in its time. Amen.
