Stability

Updated: Jun 12

The original word that is translated into ‘faithfulness’ means ‘stability’ and ‘truth.’

When we love well, we live by and discern the truth, and our life is stabilized. We can see the evidence of the opposite in our world today. The love of this world has been defined as let me be me, no matter how it affects others. This is the complete opposite of God’s definition, which is to do what is best for others even if it means personal sacrifice. And what is best is always what helps people see Christ and turn to Him because He has their best interest in mind and the power to move mountains to give it to them. The world is living in the opposite direction, attempting to steal the meaning of love from the Lord, the very source of love. And the result is craziness, chaos, and confusion.

Loving others can be difficult. It requires us to crucify our desires and wants when they conflict with what will help others see God’s love for them through us. However, the promise we have from God is that if we surrender our lives in service to Him, loving the world and ourselves as He loves, He will ensure we have a better life than we could ever imagine.

Truth in the Bible is not merely a fact that can be proven. It is a philosophical approach to life that significantly increases the potential flourishing of our lives and then fulfills that potential. It is to live life according to the ways of Christ. It is serving others. It is speaking the truth to others while also being aware of their fragile state. It is letting nothing come out of our mouths unless it is good for building others up. It is an uncompromising morality in our lives, yet we extend grace to those who choose a different path, as we strive to show and teach them a better way. It is doing everything God leads us to do with all our might to honor His name. The result of this is love, faithfulness, truth, and emotional, spiritual, and mental stability. We all need more of that.

Prayer: Lord, teach me to trust Your way of love to bring peace to my mind and stability to my life. Amen.
