Psalms 119:165
165 Great peace have those who love your law,
and nothing can make them stumble. (NIV)
We forfeit a great deal of power to other people. We allow what they think, feel, or do to dictate our thoughts and behavior. As believers, we do not want to be subject to any man, woman, or situation. Perfect peace comes from keeping our eyes steadfast on the Lord so that we put more weight in what He says and does.

When we learn to love God’s law, we take back the control we have given to others, taking back the control of life. When our lives are directed by Scripture, taught by the Holy Scripture, it is because we have experienced the faithfulness of our Lord. Our love for Him increases, opening our hearts to experience more of His love. We are overwhelmed by the knowledge of His unconditional love and the unlimited resources He has to care for us. We realize that He is all that we need. We no longer need others to like us, love us, or bend their will to indulge us. God is our portion. He is all that we need. We may know this intellectually, but when we begin to follow the law and see His goodness through it, our knowledge moves deeper than our intellect. What we know in our heads is written on the tablets of our hearts. We feel it in a visceral way.
When no one and nothing has control over us but our desire to follow Christ, the emotional roller coaster finally comes to an end. We win the battle against our tempers, depression, pride, and insecurities. God’s law sets us free, and peace remains.
Prayer: Lord, help me follow Your law to see Your faithfulness and take back the control I have given to too many. Amen.
