Isaiah 40:8
8 The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God endures forever. ”
Seasons can be long. In certain geographical areas, the heat of Summer may seem to last the entire year, and the opposite can be true in the coldest regions. Yet, no matter how long they last, life seasons continue to change, even if ever so lightly. After the flood, God made a promise to never flood the earth again but also declared that as long as the earth endured, seasons would change. Seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease (Genesis 8:22). The grass will soon wither, and the flowers will soon fall.

God has given us the physical realm to understand the spiritual realm, so in the same way seasons change, so do the seasons of our lives. Life will never be one bad season. There is always good interspersed. And the good seasons will give way to trials and tribulations. We can trust this. It is certain. As much as we know that the sun will set today and darkness will cover the earth until the sun rises again, we can know that whatever season of life we are in, it will change.
If you are in a difficult season, hold on. It will not last. Keep your eyes open for a new season. Don’t get lost in the hardship of this one. A new one is on its way. If you are in a pleasant season, don’t take it for granted. Be thankful and give praise because the hard days will soon arrive. Our approach to each season is the key to navigating this life.
Prayer: Lord, give us the wisdom to understand the changing times and respond in a way that brings us nearer to You. Amen.
