To Gaze Upon Your Beauty

64 The earth is filled with your love, LORD;

teach me your decrees.

Psalms 119:64

We have built steel cities with highways, bridges, and millions of moving vehicles. Always before our eyes, we have a variety of screens, videos, and advertisements. We have become so distracted that we are missing the beauty of this Earth. And, of course, the enemy loves to fit us with blinders to keep our eyes only on what he wants us to see, and the last thing he wants us to see is the beauty of this place God created for us in the beginning. But when we do pull ourselves away from technological advances, our eyes are filled with a gorgeous kaleidoscope of colors that dazzle us.

Like an artist taking time out of his commercial business to paint a masterpiece, not to sell, but to give away to the one he loves, so our Lord has filled His canvas joyfully for His beloved creation. He smiles big as He glides His brush each morning with glorious colors imagining our delight when we finally stop to see His love in the orange and yellows of the skies and the mosaic of blues across the ocean's waves. He can’t wait for us to see what He has done for us, so we can gaze upon His Beauty. The earth is filled with His love for us.

A vibrant sunrise over the ocean, symbolizing God’s love filling the earth as described in Psalm 119:64

He has created us with unique senses to appreciate the masterpiece He has given us. Not only do our eyes adjust to the light to ensure we are continually seeing His artwork, whether in bright light or dim, He has also given us the sense of taste, touch, and smell. Honey off the comb, a tomato off the vine, the warmth of the sun on our skin, or the sweet aroma of fresh rain. His attempt to delight our senses pushes into every intricate corner so that some of his greatest wonders are only seen through microscopic lenses or advanced telescopes eyeing the deep space beyond our atmosphere. He has left no singular space untouched. The earth is full of His love.

When we consider the power of God and all He can do instantaneously, to imagine that He spent the time of six days to fill the platform of HIs brilliance and affection for us, do we not also sense an unending love and affection from Him. Creation reveals His power, His character, but most of all, His love.

Prayer: Lord, turn my eyes to Your creation to feel more loved by You with every new delight You have made for me. Amen.
